NSD2016 Challenge #3: Theme Park Layout

Next I have a layout for a Theme Park Challenge from Scrapbook.com.  This one was a lot of fun to do because we love theme parks!

We live about an hour away from Sesame Place in PA. The kids love going there and meeting the characters. My favorite has always been Oscar the Grouch (Cookie Monster a close second because I can relate!).

I just so happen to have a ton of Sesame Street products... Hard Core Theme-ing going on here.

NSD 2016 Challenge #2: Washi Tape Challenge

For this challenge we had to use Washi tape. I had a little help from the kid and he was very creative!

First he picked out all the different Washi Tapes that he liked. He mainly liked red and yellows. Then we layered them on a plain piece of white paper.

Then we used different punches (hearts, circles, and arrows) to cut out the washi tape and I sprinkled it up and down the diagonal on this paper.

We also included a washi tape border behind the photo. I had a lot of fun making this one with the sweetie in the photo.

NSD2016 Challenge #1: CardMaps Challenge

It is here! National Scrapbooking Day/ Weekend! NSD 2016! So many different groups I follow are hosting challenges, and I plan to do some from each that I follow. The key is the due dates of the challenges. You have to pay attention to when things are due because some are same day/weekend and some extend for another 2 weeks! There is going to be so much inspiration and I am excited to get some stuff done. I told my boys it was what I wanted for Mother's Day!

The very first NSD Challenge I'm working on is a CardMaps Challenge from Scrapbook.com.  We had to follow a sketch and make a card. I get nervous making cards because I don't always end up liking what I make but these challenges are great for getting me out of my comfort zones. Here is my take on the sketch:

Dream Big Love: Using Arrows

This week on Shimelle.com the challenge was to use arrows in your layout.

I used lots of arrows on patterned paper to make this layout. Most of the paper is from the Recorded line from Allison Kreft for Webster's Pages.

I'm getting very excited for NSD this weekend! I wrote down lots of challenges from various websites that I'm hoping to work on depending on how much free time I get!

Hip Kit Challenge: Using Letters as a Design Element

For this week's Hip Kit Challenge, we needed to use alphabet stickers as a design element instead of a title.

This was a big challenge for me. I didn't know what to do. I loved what I saw as the inspiration in the comments, but when I attempted to do something similar, I was not happy with the result. See Below.

If it doesn't suit my style it won't end up in my album. I decided to take off that top piece (It's hanging on my wall in my craft room right now with a bunch of my son's artwork...) and I decided to use some acetate letters I had from Studio Calico that I never bothered to open. I used some symbols from that set as a design element around the page (#,*,!). At least this felt more me!

May Counterfeit Kit Challenge: One Love

Even though I was getting married last month and going on a honeymoon and had less time to think about scrapbooking, I really enjoyed working with my first Counterfeit Kit in April. I used up all of the papers and a good amount of the many embellishments I included.

This month I am joining in the fun again with the May Kit Challenge.

I have to say, I was loving the colors and overall feel of the inspiration. I'm in the U.S. so I have never worked with the Quirky Kits before but I think they look amazing.

Right away I notice a few items that I already had in my stash, including the 12x12 sticker sheet and at least one of the bokah papers. (I just used the teal one for a project recently so I ran out of that one!)

I am planning on using a lot of pictures from my recent honeymoon in Jamaica with this kit because the colors were so bright and fun. Keeping that in mind, I am calling this kit One Love. You can hear that song any time day or night in Jamaica.

I tried to match papers as best I could from both A sides and B sides. I threw in a couple of papers I just liked for fun.

The original kit included a white and natural card stock and some vellum paper so I included those as well.

Finally, I have lots and lots of embellishments: striped letters, those color blocked wood veneer, gold shimmery tape, lots of badges and ephemera and tags... I am determined to use as much as possible!

And that's everything for this kit! So excited to start using it- especially for NSD!

Simply Amazing

For This layout, I used my Counterfeit Kit (Wildest Dreams). I was happy to use a lot more of the stash I put in there and everything went together well!

I'm also using a sketch from the Scrapbook Challenge Blog. (sketch 477) It had two square photos separated down the middle with a couple of blocks of paper behind them.

I loved using that border on the bottom of the page with the quote. It fit my mommy well :)
Those butterflies have adhesive in the center and pop dots on the side to make them look like they are flying off the page.
