NSD 2016 Challenge #30: Scenery

This layout is for an NSD challenge to Scrap Scenery. I chose a picture from the top of the Empire State Building in NYC. I have so many of these really old themed stickers that I love to use on these layouts.

NSD 2016 Challenge #29: Messy Background

For this Messy Background challenge from Shimelle's blog, I used water colors. The messy layouts are outside of my comfort zone so I didn't aim for perfection and really put a lot of paint on there.

NSD 2016 Challenge #28: Repeat a Shape

The next NSD challenge I did was one where you needed to repeat a shape. They had some terrific examples on Shimelle's blog. I decided I wanted to use up some of my scraps. I picked up three arrow punches and went a little bit crazy. Then I very messily glued them onto the background in no particular order or line.

Here is me and the Hubby arriving at the airport in Jamaica and enjoying our first Red Stripe beers.

NSD 2016 Challenge #27: Stamping

This Challenge from NSD on Shimelle's blog was to use a Simple Stamping Technique . The idea was to stamp small images, color them in and cut them out and then put them right on the photo.

I chose a small flower from Shimelle's Starshine stamps and another flower from the Amy Tangerine Yes Please collection. I colored them in with colored pencils.

I used my April Hip Kit for the layout. I love the soft colors.

NSD 2016 Challenge # 26: Use Fabric or Lace

Shimelle hosted some NSD challenges on her blog and they are all due by the end of the weekend. I am working on a couple of them. Here is the first challenge to use fabric or lace in your layout.

NSD2016 Challenge #25: Incorporate Another Hobby

For this challenge I had to scrapbook about one of my other hobbies. I have been loving the paint classes at various places nearby and so I did it for my bachelorette party. We had so much fun! I have one tomorrow night, too!

NSD2016 Challenge #24: Sketch Challenge

Oh how I love a good Sketch Challenge. This one was for Mercy Tiara's Facebook NSD challenges.  We could flip the sketch or change it up. I loved that it had 3 pictures so I stuck with that and made a few changes elsewhere with the doily and making my photos layered and not straight.

When my husband and I were searching for a home, we chose a house right down the street from the library I used to go to when I was little with a giant hill that all the kids would go to on snow days to sled. I told him all about the sledding and promised him it would be fun for our son and for us. Last winter we got a few good snow storms and got great use out of that hill! Now I'm excited for the Summer when they will play free movies on that same hill.

NSD2016 Challenge #23: Scraplift Yourself

This challenge was presented by both Hip Kits Club and Mercy Tiara so I am hoping it is okay to use it for both. We needed to scraplift ourselves and an older layout we made.

Below is the original layout:

And here is my new layout:

NSD2016 Challenge #22: Layering

Another challenge all about layers. This one was from Hip Kits Club NSD Challenges. I made sure to take lots of pictures in the airplane and airport this time. I almost never do that and I end up having all of these papers and embellishments with planes that I can't use!

NSD 2016 Challenge #21: Big Titles

There is only 2 hours left until these Hip Kit Challenges are due. I don't think I will make it! There are so many left. This challenge was to use a big title on a layout.

NSD2016 Challenge #20: Recipe Challenge

Next up for the NSD Challenges at Hip Kits Club Forum is a Recipe Challenge. We had to use white cardstock, wood veneer, acetate or vellum die cuts, a doily, a vertical design, and black and white photos.

It felt like a vertical design when I put it all down but now I'm not so sure. Oh well. Done this challenge!

NSD2016 Challenge #19: Make a Grid

Hip Kits Club had a NSD challenge on their Facebook where you needed to use a grid on your layout. This is my response to the challenge, using various scraps, 2x2 cards, 6x6 papers, and bits and pieces left over from past kits.

NSD2016 Challenge #18: Sketch Challenge

Today I started with a sketch challenge from the Hip Kits Club NSD Challenges. It had lots of triangles down the center and some square photos in the middle.

I used a bunch of branding strips and scraps from my stash. I love using those scraps!

NSD2016 Challenge #17: Using Stencils and Red and Blue

The Challenge was to use a stencil in two ways so I used a cotton ball and distress ink over this star stencil that was actually the trash from a board game after I took out all the star chips for the game. Then I used a pen and outlined all the stars.

I kept two other challenges in mind when I pulled out the star stencil: Shimelle's challenge to use red and blue and Mercy Tiara's challenge to create a background

NSD2016 Challenge 16: Using Your Handwriting

This challenge from Hip Kits Club required us to use our own handwriting on a layout. I used mine by journaling on the backside of some packaging. I used up the rest of my April Citrus Twist Kit for this challenge. I still have some embellishments left over.

NSD2016 Challenge #15: Focus on Yellow

The second challenge from Hip Kits Club NSD Challenges on Facebook was to use yellow as the primary color on a layout. I took out my April Citrus Twist Kit and there was quite a bit of yellow in it! Perfect.

I love how there were no problems in Jamaica, "only a situation". I had never felt so relaxed!

NSD 2016 Challenge #14: Visual Triangle

This layout was made for an NSD challenge from the Hip Kits Club on Facebook. The Challenge was to use a visual triangle. I used the last papers from my May Counterfeit Kit on this one and now all I have left are a couple of embellishments. I suppose I will have to get out my April Hip Kit and use that for the rest of the Hip Kits Challenges!

NSD 2016 Challenge #10: Cut File

The next NSD Challenge from Paper Issues required using a cut file from their store. I used this globe that you can get for free at the Paper Issues online store.

It took longer than I had hoped and as you can see from my close ups, I didn't get a clean cut! I recently used the machine for vinyl and I couldn't remember what settings were best for this cardstock. Simply going by the suggested settings for cardstock does not work! I cut this thing out three times with different blade settings before just going with the slightly distressed looking globe, haha! Oh well. Time to get a new blade!

Once again I used my May Counterfeit kit. I love this paper.

NSD 2016 Challenge #9: Mood Board Challenge

For this challenge from the Paper Issues Facebook NSD Challenges, we were inspired by a Mood Board. The Mood Board just so happened to have lots of colors from my Counterfeit Kit.

There was ice cream with jimmies on the mood board so I was inspired to make a page about ice cream! The yellows, pinks, and blues were also inspiration from the mood board.

NSD 2016 Challenge #8: Scrapping with Non-Scrappy Items

For this challenge from the Paper Issues NSD Challenges on Facebook, we needed to use a non-traditional scrapbooking item on the page. It just so happens I have a post card from Jamaica for the Dunn's River Falls where I did not get any pictures! I didn't have anything waterproof and the gentlemen there were only selling DVDs of the climb. I couldn't justify the cost for a DVD with a bunch of strangers in it so I skipped it and decided a post card would have to do.

I hope with the journaling it will stay in my memories forever. I used my May Counterfeit Kit for this one as well.  One Love.
