Scrapbooking in January: Week 3 Challenges

I had another productive week of Scrapping and I'm on target to hit my goal of 20 pages this month so I am feeling good. The first thing I did this week was work on a mini album but again I failed to take a picture so I'll move on to the sketch I did.

This sketch was found on the Citrus Twist blog. I loved the style and how it was different than what I normally do.

Next I did a pretty random Disney layout but I just had to get the story of Prince Eric down!

Then I pulled a challenge from the Challenge Jar. This time I needed to pick random sticker sheets and make kits using that sticker sheet as inspiration. Boy, was that fun!

The first sticker sheet was an old Sassafras 12x12 sheet with creams and oranges and yellows.

Here is the page kit I came up with.

Next I pulled a random 6x12 sticker sheet. It was an old Cosmo Cricket travel sticker sheet.

I liked the orange and blues and I happened to have a few sheets of this same line so I figured I may as well pull them out, right?

Then I reached into my random sticker stash from a drawer. This is what I pulled - rainbow glittery skulls. What?!

OK... Rainbow Pirates. That's what I went with. Luckily I have a picture ready to go.

Next I pulled this sticker sheet from Simple Stories.

I liked the polka dots and colors so I pulled out these for a page kit.

Next I wanted to kill-a-page-kit that I already had in my bin and I was able to make a fun 2 page spread.

Finally, I watched Paige Evan's flip through from last year and saw this beautiful page strip heart layout she had done and so I scraplifted it and made a blue heart and a picture of my husband and our Godson. I was really excited to use so many scraps from my scrap bin!

Scrapbooking in January - Week 1 Challenges

I discussed some of the goals I had already for this year and so far I am on track. I worked on a mini album and made 5 layouts this week, including 1 Disney layout.

The first challenge was to work on my mini album, which I did, but didn't grab a picture of it just yet!

The next challenge was to use one of the stash kits I had sitting in a bin. I made this kit a while back and it was perfect for a single page. I am a huge fan of doilies lately. And I was so happy to cut into that transparency paper. Sometimes I hold onto those for way too long!

The next challenge was a Jar Challenge. I had to use a color wheel. I went online and chose the following colors using the Triad option.

I went to work, first taking papers from my 100 papers bin. Then I took out one embellishment sheet that had all the colors I was looking for and found this picture of my son wearing pretty much the same colors for his school picture this year. It all worked out pretty quickly.

Next I had to "Kill" a Kit on Friday. I made two layouts, but one has a class picture with school sign so I decided not to post that one. The other layout is below. I have been holding onto this book paper for a while now knowing that I wanted to use some pictures I've taken this year while reading. I am so happy I decided to focus on reading again so I wanted to make a layout about it.

Finally, I used the Hip Kits Club Sketch  from this week to create the layout below for my Sketch Saturday. I am thrilled with how my Disney Album is turning out. I did take Shimelle's Disney class over the summer and hope to finish going through all the videos and sketches to make even more layouts for this project.

That is all for now! Happy Scrapping!

Scrapbooking in May: Sketch Challenge

I found a sketch challenge on the Hip Kits Club member forum. I used more of my April Counterfeit Kit, Something There, to make mine. I love how it turned out. I'm excited by the green and using so much of the heart paper I liked.

Scrapbooking in April: Challenge 31

I was looking at the Paper Issues April Challenges and found a sketch challenge I wanted to do along with a Jar Challenge.

Use lots of wood veneer

To complete this challenge, I used my March Hip Kit and pulled out all of my wood veneer. I have so much stashed in these bead cases.

I think I have maybe 1 or 2 more layouts I can make with this Hip Kit before I move on to my April Counterfeit kit and those page kits I made this week. Luckily I have no shortage of challenges to complete!

Scrapbooking in February: Counterfeit Kit Layout 1

I busted out my Purple Rain February Counterfeit Kit today! I decided to use it for this sketch challenge on Paper Issues facebook page.

At first I was worried about the sketch. For some reason it wasn't pushing me into making a layout. But when I broke it down piece by piece I found myself putting it all together in my mind easier. I started with the amount of papers I saw in the sketch and didn't look at an embellishment until my papers and photos were down. That's not normal for me! Often times, pictures are a last thought for my layouts.

I have to say, all the purple is making me so happy. I can't wait to do another layout with this kit!

Scrapbooking in February: Working with a Kit

I did a sketch challenge this time that I found on Hip Kits Club's Facebook . They do weekly challenges on their facebook group and I like to play along when I can, especially with my Hip Kit!

I think I will move onto my Counterfeit Kit from here. I have a test coming up so I'm not sure how much scrapping will get done but I find it helps me de-stress from studying so I'll have to make time!

Also, Joann's just started bringing in some of American Craft's newer items. I just purchased Shimelle's new paper pad for Little by Little along with some Pink Paislee 6x6 paper pads. Those might show up in my next few layouts, too!

Scrapbooking in January: Counterfeit Kit Layout 6

For this layout that I completed with my January Counterfeit Kit, I followed a sketch from Hip Kits Club. I cut up a lot of pieces of one paper and layered them behind a photo. The sketch had so many layers and it looked all crazy in the middle so I hope I accomplished that!

Scrapbooking in January: Collection Highlight 2

Today I did a layout with Shimelle's 2nd Collection: True Stories. I used a sketch from Hip Kits facebook challenge to use up some of my stash.

Out of all of her collections, this is actually the one I have used the most, even though it wasn't my favorite of hers! Other layouts I've done previously using this kit include:

Scrapbooking in January: Counterfeit Kit Layout 4

This is a sketch challenge from Paper Issues. I used my January Counterfeit kit to complete the challenge. I do love a good sketch challenge. This is the first one I've done this year!

I am really killing this Counterfeit Kit! I might have to pull out my next Hip Kit soon!

SBC Sketch 494: Clifton Pal Baseball

This sketch at the SBC blog used an 8x10 photo. I was excited to use some sports themed products up! Their colors are black adn orange so I tried to make sure to include that.

SS16 Sketch 08: Sweet Smiles

For this layout, I used some paint color cards for all the purple shades. I'm always looking for purple so this was a fun way to get that color on my page! I used the Sizzlin' Summer 16 Sketch 8 for my inspiration.

SS16 Sketch 6: So Happy

I loved this sketch from the Sizzlin' Summer sketches!! It is different than I normally scrapbook and I had to play with angles and that was super fun.

SS16 Sketch 5: Love, We're Engaged!

I did this layout for one of the Sizzlin' Summer sketches on the SBC blog. I used my August Counterfeit Kit and some photos from the engagement shoot we had last August!

Sketch 493: Hello, Beautiful

This layout was done in response to the Sketch Challenge 493 on the SBC blog. I used my August Counterfeit Kit. I was also trying to use my pristine stamps, which was a challenge from a class I am taking - but I totally messed up one of the words after the layout was done! Oh, well. At least my friend looks pretty in her dress.

SS 16 Sketch 4: My Heart is Full

Sketch #4 of the Sizzlin' Summer sketches at the Scrapbook Challenges blog included a large 8x8 photo. I changed that up with four 4x4 photos. I used my August Counterfeit Kit, Isn't She Lovely, to do this layout. I have been meaning to get these pictures of my little man as a ring bearer at my brother's wedding for a couple of years now! Finally got some of them scrapped!

Oh, and a 3 year old in shoes that can clip-clap all the way up the aisle is hilarious.

SS 16 Sketch 3: Dream

For this challenge, I followed along with the SBC Blog's Sizzlin' Summer Sketch 3.  I used my August Counterfeit Kit. I had included a lot of dress making papers and decided to scrapbook some photos of one of my dress fittings. The sketch had these long vertical lines that reminded me of rulers, so it all worked together!

SS16 Sketch 2 It Is A Sunny Day

I wanted to use the Sunshine and Happiness scraps I had leftover from Simple Stories. The SS16 Sketch 2 on the SBC blog was perfect for scraps!

Sketch Challenge: Gallaghers

I was very excited to see that the SBC blog was hosting a Sizzlin' Summer of Sketches challenge all August long. I took on the first one and changed up the sketch a little to include 2 4x6 pictures instead of an 8x10 picture.

Summer

Next up is a sketch challenge from SBC. Exciting news - they are hosting their 5th annual Sizzlin' Summer of Sketches which basically means there will be 20 sketches this month! I'm very excited since this is my first year following along with their blog. Yay!

I stayed pretty true to the sketch. I just loved this background paper. I don't normally go for the real-scene images on my papers but this one was stunning. And it already had a title on it for me! It is part of a paper pack I purchased at Michael's from Craft Smith. Those are my siblings.

NSD2016 Challenge #24: Sketch Challenge

Oh how I love a good Sketch Challenge. This one was for Mercy Tiara's Facebook NSD challenges.  We could flip the sketch or change it up. I loved that it had 3 pictures so I stuck with that and made a few changes elsewhere with the doily and making my photos layered and not straight.

When my husband and I were searching for a home, we chose a house right down the street from the library I used to go to when I was little with a giant hill that all the kids would go to on snow days to sled. I told him all about the sledding and promised him it would be fun for our son and for us. Last winter we got a few good snow storms and got great use out of that hill! Now I'm excited for the Summer when they will play free movies on that same hill.
