Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 18

The next challenge out of the Jar is

Use an Ad as inspiration

I went looking for ads and I decided to go with a Movie Poster.

I was inspired by the angle and the yellow-gold splashes here and there. Using my Counterfeit Kit from February:

I put the paper at an angle to mimic the word Cinderella from the poster. I used up the last of the embellishments from my kit. I had a couple of papers left and some scraps but I cycled them back into my stash so I could get working with something different. I must have had that bike die cut for years. I'm glad I finally used it!

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 17

It's time for another challenge from the Challenge Jar, using my February Counterfeit Kit, Purple Rain.

Use an element (like stars) repeatedly

For the challenge, I decided to use cameras. I had a lot of camera papers in my kit and a few pieces sitting out on my table so I just went ahead and cut them up and grouped them around the page. I do love the camera theme. American Crafts always seems to have camera paper in their collections and I like using them this way.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 16

The next challenge from the Challenge Jar was obviously written a long time ago as an inside joke with my siblings.

Use the Lyrics from Let's Hear It For The Boy in your title

There. I did it. I do love using lyrics and song titles in my layouts. I might need to add some songs into the jar for more fun later.

Everything on this layout was from my February Counterfeit Kit, Purple Rain.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 15

The next challenge from the Challenge Jar was a fairly simple one for me because of the Counterfeit Kit for February I already have been using:

Use your favorite colors on a layout

My favorite colors are green and purple. My Kit has so much purple in it so I went with it!

I'm getting to the end of this kit soon! It was such a big one I'm actually surprised I was able to do it. A few more layouts and I will be ready to move on to my January Hip Kit, some new collections I purchased, and some stash kits I plan to start working on.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 14

Using my Counterfeit Kit for February, I completed the next challenge from my challenge jar

Cut a photo into strips and use it on your layout

This was easiest for me to use on a landscape/seascape photo. It isn't something I normally ever do but I liked it. I wanted to put them at different heights instead of straight but it looked funny with that horizon line so I kept it straight.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 13

Hello! Sharing a challenge from the Jar again today:

Use a nontraditional scrapbook element

I decided to go with the negative part of a vinyl sheet I cut for a Christmas present for my mom. I saved it knowing I would want to use it on a page! (I can never just throw trash away.. haha) It went well with a picture of my family. I'm pleased! I used more of my Counterfeit Kit, Purple Rain.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 12

For this challenge from the Challenge Jar,

Scrapbook about yourself

This wasn't too hard for me, because I come across this challenge a lot through different blogs, videos, and groups I follow.

I used my February Counterfeit Kit, Purple Rain, to complete the challenge. I also watched the latest Glitter Girl adventure while making this layout so I followed along with her process and scraplifted as I went.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 11

The next challenge from the Jar was

Make your own patterned background

I used a roller stamp with hearts to get my desired pattern, in both gold and black inks. I love how it turned out! Messy but cool. I used my counterfeit kit to complete this challenge.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 10

The next challenge from the Jar:

Use a Border punch or decorative scissors

This was a good challenge for me, because I barely use border punches and I certainly have a few. I never thinking about them. In fact, while I was doing the challenge, I went off in a completely different direction and almost forgot to use one! That's how easily I forget about them.

It's not that I don't like them - I really do! I need to remember to use them more often. Maybe I will try using one again soon.

As you can see, I used a little piece of paper with border punch stars and moons on this layout. The rest was done with my Counterfeit Kit Purple Rain - but without any purple this time!

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 9

Time for another challenge from the challenge jar!

Use a paint sample on your layout

I have so many paint samples. You can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot for free. I loved all the purple colors and toyed with doing a purple room. This went well with my Counterfeit Kit, Purple Rain. I used it as a mat under my photo.

Scrapbooking in February: Challenge 7

Using my Counterfeit Kit, I worked on another challenge from the Challenge Jar: Circles!

Use Circles on your Layout

I started with a polka dot background and pulled out all the circles I have in my die cut stash as well as some doilies.

I am intimidated by circles but happy I have all these die cuts sorted this way so the layout came together very easily!

Scrapbooking in February: Counterfeit Kit Layout 2

My next layout was using the Purple Rain Counterfeit Kit I made for February. I used a quote challenge from Paper Issues' Facebook, which was "Love the Life you Live", as inspiration.

Scrapbooking in February: Counterfeit Kit Layout 1

I busted out my Purple Rain February Counterfeit Kit today! I decided to use it for this sketch challenge on Paper Issues facebook page.

At first I was worried about the sketch. For some reason it wasn't pushing me into making a layout. But when I broke it down piece by piece I found myself putting it all together in my mind easier. I started with the amount of papers I saw in the sketch and didn't look at an embellishment until my papers and photos were down. That's not normal for me! Often times, pictures are a last thought for my layouts.

I have to say, all the purple is making me so happy. I can't wait to do another layout with this kit!

Scrapbooking in February: Counterfeit Kit

It's February!! Time for another Counterfeit Kit! I had a big one last month and I used up almost every little bit- I was so happy! I can't seem to help myself when it comes to making these kits. They always turn out really big.

This month's inspiration kit comes from Scrapdelight:

It's very soft and lovely. The first thing I noticed was the lavender. I was nervous because I had just gone through all my 6x6 paper pads and found only 1 small sheet of purple that had too many other colors on the paper to really qualify as a purple piece of paper. My purple scraps were also pretty slim.

Turns out, I have a ton of 12x12 purple paper I didn't even realize I had. I had so much fun going through a stack of papers from my stash and pulling out anything purple, I actually had to put some back! So, my interpretation of the kit really did turn out mostly purple, with some neutrals and blues mixed in.

I am going to call this kit Purple Rain

I know there is a ton of paper. It is crazy. I also pulled out a ton of die cuts. I couldn't help myself. I included some gems and washi. It's going to be a fun scrapping February.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the madness that is my kit!
